The purpose of this procedure is to stretch and cut the skin in order to correct the flaccidity of the tissue in the face and neck. The cuts in this surgery vary according to each patient's particular case, however there are three key areas:
-
Incisions in the scalp and eyelids.
-
Incisions in the area of the cheeks with cuts in the preauricular region that can extend behind the ear.
-
The cervical region that goes from the wound in front of the ear and may require another incision under the chin.
This surgery can take three to five hours and is ambulatory.
